The Way-Back Machine: Every now and then, you gotta look at where you’ve been to determine where you’re going. I don’t know what this has to do with anything, but I just got through listening to “The Nature of the Threat” by Ras Kass and I’m feeling kinda deep at the moment. Damn, can I live?

Some of you may not remember this, but I remember going to the public park when I was a kid around noon for free lunches. To this day, that frozen grape juice is the best damn grape juice I have ever had (yes, better than the thimble full of Welch’s they give you at communion). In a lot of underprivileged areas (Richmond, CA) lunches are given out to kids during the summer to make sure they get the proper nutritional meals when not in schools. How nutritional they actually were (white bread, iceberg lettuce, etc) is questionable, but that sh*t was delicious.
Dang! I remember that too….. Now we can’t even get after school care for our kids anymore, and he is taking away all of the sports, and programs for kids. Dam Arnold! Whats next!!!

Oh so they DONT do it anymore? Its been some years since Ive lived in Cali so I wasnt sure. My grandmother had a daycare in San Pablo and used to take all of us up there to eat, after which we would come home catch the itis and basically pass out during afternoon cartoons (guarantee it was that super-thick bologna). Arnolds f****n up. That was an excellent program. Daaamn Daaaaamn Daaaaaaaaamn lol
Nope they just cut it this year. My lil boy is in Kindergarten, and 1st – 5th grade had after school care, so I was HAPPY when the school year just ended because he is going to 1st grade and I dont have to depend on my brother so much, he was helping me take him to school and pick him up, he is 21 so I feel like I am putting a burden on him because he has to be sure he is home by 1:30pm and 2:30pm to pick him up everyday. So I was Super disappointed when I just found this out….everyone I know has the grandma and everyone to help them because they are not working, by my mom works so its real tough…. But we always do what we gotta do in the end. Things need to change though ASAP! There are a lot of disappointed kids out here who don’t have Band anymore, and Sports in some schools.

Let me correct u…it’s pronounced GUBment cheese and yes it was wonderful lol. I think we gotta start looking at doing things for us by us in our own communities…a lot of gov’t resources particularly in California are being spread pretty thin with the influx of immigrants and their children, so anything the government would do to help would need to be spread thin & even across all underprivileged communities. Not saying it isn’t needed for them, I’m just more concerned with our people since we built this country. But Im not a fan of pointing fingers in any direction but forward. Progressive thinking.
Wow topic got a lil heavy! This was a lighthearted kinda nostalgic post but can’t wait to continue with more posts in this category. Thanks again for reading and contributing.
